FriarLink is a searchable database of Providence College alumni from various career fields and geographic locations who have volunteered to share their knowledge and expertise about particular career fields with interested students.

Alumni have indicated a willingess to assist students with some or all of the following options:

  • Career Information: Provide advice and consultation via email, phone, or in person
  • Job Shadowing: Observe the work setting of the alum and/or others in their organization
  • Networking: Assist students with resume referral, job leads, and/or contacts for internships, summer jobs, and entry-level positions

1. Student Registration

  • Enter FriarLink using your Banner ID number as your username and your birthdate as your password
  • All students must complete the brief registration profile

2. Search Options
Note: Use the ctrl key for multi-select AND de-select within the search menus.

You may use FriarLink for purely informational purposes without any intention of contacting alumni or you may search for alumni and obtain contact information.

View Only, Without Obtaining Contact Information: Search for alumni career examples by major, career field and more. This can be especially helpful for viewing career examples according to your major, a major or minor you are considering, or for doing preliminary research, even if you are not currently interested in contacting alumni. There are no monthly limits on searches, but there are limits on obtaining contact information.

Obtaining Contact Information and Monthly Limits:
After obtaining alumni search results and viewing details, you have the option of clicking for contact information. You are limited to obtaining contact information on 10 alumni per month and each alumnus is limited to 10 student contacts per month. Clicking for alumni contact information will count towards these monthly limits.
Contact limits are in place so that alumni are not overburdened with requests.

Hidden Contact Information:
Alumni contact information will not be viewable if the alumnus has reached the maximum number of contacts or by alumnus request. Contact the program coordinator if you need assistance.

3. Description of Search Criteria

Career Field: Alums have been categorized by broad career field which includes their present position and other areas of career experience or knowledge. View the career subcategories for a list of specific career fields included within each broad career category. Searching by the (broad) career field of interest to you may be more relevant than a search by major.

PC Major/Minor: Search by the alum's PC undergraduate major or PC master degree. Keep in mind that major does not typically define the career field and most fields draw from a variety of majors. You can search on major of interest or leave this field blank. In some cases the alum may have included a second major or minor.

Graduation Year: Refers in most cases to undergraduate education; leave blank for the broadest search.

Advanced Education: Use this option to search for alumni who have indicated earning an advanced degree. It is likely that additional alumni have completed advanced education, although this may not be included in FriarLink. Leave blank for the broadest search.

Business State: To maximize your results, begin by leaving this field blank. Typically alums can share helpful information regardless of location. Keep in mind that some alums, particularly in sales or consulting, may travel or have a territory which covers multiple states.

Country: The majority of FriarLink volunteers are from within the U.S. For other alums, click on the country of interest, or for best results, select all foreign countries and get results.

Students interested in shadowing an alum for a day during the winter break should contact Stacey Moulton in the Career Services Office for assistance.
